ABOUT THE STOCKTON HEALTH EMPOWERMENT CONFERENCE

SHEC was created in 2015 by a group of UC Davis medical students who found the lack of educational resources available in Stockton and the surrounding areas for high school and junior college students alarming, and understood the need for change and to provide much needed resources and the network to succeed. The conference aims to empower, motivate, and provide information about health professions to students from disadvantaged backgrounds where their families envision their success, but may not know how to help. This conference will encourage conversations about: long-term goals, college admissions, financial aid, health profession careers, educational achievement, community service, research, and how, together, we can make a difference.

Our goal is to equip students with the skills necessary to navigate the pursuit of higher education in an effort to empower our communities and cultivate health leaders in the San Joaquin Valley.
