HEALTH STUDENT PANEL

A unique opportunity to interact with students from a wide range of health profession programs including medical, nursing, physician assistant and pharmacy. In this Q & A format you will have the opportunity to ask these students all of your burning questions. Learn how they got where they are, what life is like as a health profession student and expand your social network!

CAREERS IN HEALTHCARE

Interested in a career in healthcare? Did you know that there are over a dozen different choices? This workshop will focus on the various careers that you can pursue in healthcare. This includes RN, MD, PA, Pharmacy, and more! We will talk about what it means to pursue these paths and will be going over what each career is like, how many years you'll spend in school, and roles & responsibilities.

OVERCOMING PERSONAL & ENVIRONMENTAL BARRIERS

The road to healthcare can be rewarding -- but long. How can we grow as people amidst the challenges we face inside and outside of school? We will discuss our personal journeys through healthcare, our hardships, and what we can learn from them.

HEALTH PROFESSIONAL PANEL

A unique opportunity to interact with healthcare professionals and learn about their journeys, their goals, and their day-to-day life. Check back as our panel is updated! Featuring: Internal Medicine Dr. Howard Young, Pediatrician Dr. Indu Gupta, Family Nurse Practitioner Lisa Stoddart, Physician Assistant Luis Rivera, and Doctors of Physical Therapy Alicia Rabena-Amen and Todd Davenport.

MAKING TRANSFER HAPPEN

Are you a high school student planning on going to a community college? Or maybe you're currently attending a community college and want to transfer to your dream 4-year institution? Then this is the workshop for you. You will be taught by two current UC Davis medical student who successfully navigated from community colleges into 4 year universities. We will be teaching you the steps in how to successfully navigate from your community college to a 4 year University as well as what to do to be successful at your new institution. We will also have a Q&A to answer any questions you many have about the entire process!

MEDICAL SCHOOL: THE NUTS & BOLTS OF GETTING IN 

In this talk, current medical students will share their different paths toward medicine & offer a range of recommendations that will help guide YOUR JOURNEY TOWARDS MEDICAL SCHOOLl!

VIRTUAL SCHOOLING & SELF CARE: A MED STUDENT'S PERSPECTIVE

Got zoom fatigue? Can’t stay focused? Need help finding friends during quarantine? Come learn tips and tricks for staying engaged with your goals during virtual education, overcoming zoom fatigue, and finding community. What works? What doesn't work? We will help you create strategies to be successful!

PERSONAL FINANCE

Keep track of your money? Have any investments in the stock market? Know what your options are to start saving for retirement early? Will you make it through schooling without taking out any loans? If you answered no to any of these questions, come join to learn about different aspects of personal finance that everyone should know but no schools teach!

PREMED PROGRAMS

Come learn about pre-med opportunities including different summer programs such as UC Davis PrepMedico, Stanford Summer Community College Premedical Program (SSCCPP), Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP), Health Career Connection (HCC), and leadership opportunities through MiMentor.These programs will connect you to mentors and help you get prepared to pursue a health career.
